The Burned Pharaoh
Oscar "Búho" Ramirez
Three years ago Oscar Ramirez was a low-level drug runner and occasional muscle for the Mexican cartels. For six of the last ten years, Ramirez was in prison, either Mexican or American, for some drug-related offense or another. Now things are looking up for Ramirez. His gang, Los Murcielagos, have shot, stabbed, and beaten their way into a position of some respect in the hierarchy of New Mexico’s cartel enforcers, and it appears that Ramirez himself may be ready for greater responsibility from the cartel leaders. Where his newfound competence has come from, no one can say, but in a very short time he has proven himself to be a dangerous adversary.
The recent discovery of Ramirez’s body in the shattered ruins of an Albuquerque neighborhood bar has left detectives baffled; local and state law enforcement are bracing for an uptick in violent crime as the Mexican cartels begin to exact retribution for his killing.
